About Our Bulletproof Glass Service
Bulletproof glass — technically known as ballistic-rated glazing or transparent armor — is a laminated glass and polycarbonate composite engineered to stop projectiles while maintaining clear visibility. We supply and install ballistic glass rated from UL 752 Level BR1 (small-caliber handgun protection) through Level BR7 and beyond (high-powered rifle protection). Applications range from residential windows and entry doors to commercial storefronts, vehicle armor, guard booths, and executive office partitions. Every installation is specified to the exact threat level and dimensions your project requires.
Ballistic glazing is essential for anyone who faces elevated security risks and refuses to sacrifice natural light or visibility. Homeowners in high-profile neighborhoods across the San Francisco Bay Area, retail businesses in urban corridors, financial institutions, government facilities, houses of worship, and vehicle owners who require armored transport all benefit from professionally installed bulletproof glass. In California, where building codes and aesthetic standards are both demanding, our installations meet ballistic requirements without compromising the look and feel of your property.
Global Bunkers has been sourcing, fabricating, and installing ballistic glass products since 1988 — over 36 years of experience working with transparent armor across residential, commercial, and vehicular applications. Based in the Bay Area, we work directly with leading glass manufacturers and conduct independent ballistic testing to verify performance. Our team handles everything from threat assessment and glass specification through custom fabrication, frame engineering, and on-site installation. When protection and clarity both matter, our clients trust our track record.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do the UL 752 ballistic ratings mean?
UL 752 is the standard used to classify bullet-resistant glazing. Level BR1 stops 9mm handgun rounds, BR2 stops .357 Magnum, BR3 stops .44 Magnum, and higher levels protect against increasingly powerful rifle rounds — BR4 through BR7 cover threats from .30-06 to 5.56mm NATO and 7.62mm rifle fire. We help you identify the right rating based on the specific threats you need to address.
Does bulletproof glass look different from regular glass?
Modern ballistic glazing is designed to be nearly indistinguishable from standard architectural glass. It is thicker — typically 1 to 3 inches depending on the rating — and slightly heavier, but optical clarity is excellent. For most residential and commercial installations, visitors will not notice any visual difference. We also offer tinted, low-E, and frosted options to match your existing windows.
Can you replace my existing windows with bulletproof glass?
Yes. Retrofit installations are one of our most common projects. We remove your existing glazing, modify or replace the frame to accommodate the thicker ballistic panel, and install the new glass with a proper ballistic-rated seal. The goal is a finished result that matches the original window appearance while providing the protection level you need.
How long does bulletproof glass last?
High-quality ballistic glazing has a service life of 15 to 20 years under normal conditions. The laminated interlayers can degrade with prolonged UV exposure, so we recommend UV-protective coatings for exterior-facing installations. We also offer inspection and maintenance programs to monitor the condition of your glazing over time and recommend replacement when needed.
Do you provide bulletproof glass for vehicles?
Yes. We supply and install ballistic glazing for passenger vehicles, SUVs, and specialty transport. Vehicle armor glass is lighter and thinner than architectural panels while still meeting the required ballistic rating. We work with certified vehicle armorers to ensure the glass integrates properly with door mechanisms, seals, and the vehicle's overall protection package.
