About Our Safe Service

A quality safe is the foundation of personal and commercial security — a purpose-built container designed to protect valuables, documents, firearms, and irreplaceable items from theft, fire, and environmental damage. We supply and install every type of safe, from compact residential units and gun safes to massive walk-in vault systems and custom-built specialty enclosures. Whether you need a fire-rated document safe for your home office or a TL-30 high-security vault for a jewelry business, we source, deliver, and install the right safe for your specific requirements.

Safes serve virtually every property owner and business. Homeowners throughout the San Francisco Bay Area rely on safes to protect jewelry, watches, firearms, estate documents, and digital media. Gun owners need properly rated storage to comply with California's secure firearm storage requirements. Jewelers, pawnbrokers, cannabis dispensaries, and cash-intensive businesses require commercial-grade safes and vaults that meet their insurance underwriter's specifications. If you need to secure anything of value, the right safe — properly selected and professionally installed — is the most cost-effective solution available.

Global Bunkers has been supplying and installing safes across the Bay Area and California since 1988 — more than 36 years of experience helping clients choose and install the right security solution. We work with every major safe manufacturer and can source virtually any model, rating, and size. For clients who need something truly unique, we design and build custom safes and walk-in vaults to exact specifications. From a single residential safe to a multi-unit commercial vault installation, our team handles consultation, delivery, anchoring, and final setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of safe do I need for firearms in California?

California law requires that firearms be stored in a locked container or secured with a locking device when not in use. A DOJ-approved firearm safe or gun vault meets this requirement and protects against both theft and unauthorized access. We carry gun safes ranging from compact single-handgun vaults to large walk-in armory rooms, all meeting or exceeding California's storage requirements. We'll help you choose the right size and rating for your collection.

What do fireproof ratings mean?

Fireproof ratings indicate how long a safe can protect its contents at a given temperature. A one-hour fire rating at 1,700°F means the internal temperature stays below 350°F — the damage threshold for paper documents — for at least one hour in a standard fire test. Higher ratings (90 minutes, 2 hours) provide longer protection. For digital media like hard drives and USB drives, you need a media-rated safe that keeps internal temperatures even lower.

Can you install a safe on an upper floor?

Yes, though structural considerations apply. Large safes can weigh several hundred to several thousand pounds, so we assess your floor's load capacity before installation. In most cases, proper placement over a load-bearing wall or structural beam is sufficient. For very heavy safes or walk-in vaults on upper floors, we may recommend structural reinforcement. Our team handles the full assessment, rigging, and placement.

What's the difference between a TL-15 and TL-30 safe?

TL ratings are issued by Underwriters Laboratories and indicate how long a safe resists a professional attack using common tools. A TL-15 safe withstands at least 15 minutes of expert attack on the door; a TL-30 withstands 30 minutes. TL-30x6 extends that protection to all six sides. Higher TL ratings are typically required by insurance underwriters for high-value contents like jewelry, precious metals, and large cash holdings.

Do you build custom safes?

Yes. If an off-the-shelf safe doesn't meet your requirements — unusual dimensions, specific interior layouts, architectural integration, or specialized ratings — we design and build custom safes and walk-in vaults from scratch. Custom builds are common for wine collectors, art storage, server rooms, and clients who need a safe that fits a specific space or aesthetic. We handle design, fabrication, delivery, and installation.
